neat!

Well after a week of running back and forth from the tattoo place (image issues)...I did it.

Yesterday I got 2 tattoos. It's the tree you see here--without the border, and in color. I got one in gold--brown colors, and one in blue--silver colors.
...and if you get the royally obscure Tolkien reference there...consider me impressed.

And yeah--it kinda hurt. But after about 5 minutes, your body starts kicking out endorphins to counter it. Which works. Until the tattoo guy has to color over the same area. Then it's that momentary eye-crossing "yeow!" moment. But all in all--not bad.

I might post acutal pictures of the work once they're all healed up.
For now, I keep looking at them in the mirror, going "cool!"

GaaH!!

Holy.
Crap.

Now--we live on Ohio. Which is no stranger to snow, ice and generally rotten ass weather.
This morning, there's a light dusting of snow outside, coupled with some very cold wind. So I leave a few minutes earlier, thinking that the side roads might be slow, but the main roads will be in better shape. This has been the case even when there's a couple of inches of snow on the ground.

Now remember, this was a *light dusting*. The main roads were kind of icy, but if you drove smart--you would make it.

But this again illustrates the weirdness of Ohio. The first snow of winter--people forget how to drive. They act like they've never seen snow.
If we lived in Georgia--this wouldn't surprise me.
But it's Ohio.
We get snow every year. Usally more than once, even.

And I had plenty of time to contemplate this little pocket of insanity--as I was sitting in traffic for three hours this morning. Sometimes at a dead stop.
Then my gas light went on.
Luckily I was able to get to an exit, follow the side roads and barely squeak into a gas station.

So I've still got something of a headache.
I hate Ohio in the winter. And it's not because of the weather.
It's because of the people reacting to the weather.

Good times

Got some major kudos from both my manager and the semi-supervisor of the switchboard yesterday. Things along the lines of "..we got really lucky when she took the job...doing great work..." and all sorts of other things that can only serve to make someone feel really good.

And we're going to the pre-opening party of a neat new restaurant downtown tonight. I'm looking forward to it!

The holidays are coming!

The holidays are coming!
(it sounds better if you call it out, a la Paul Revere)
And so far...I don't dread it.
After so many years working in rsetaurants and retail--which means you're working while others are playing--this is going to be a nice change!

Of course, with Isis being diabetic, it's looking like we're staying in town for Turkey Day. We had been looking forward to going to the in-laws, but she needs her injections, and she's NOT a traveling cat.

Ah well. We'll get to relax around the house and enjoy not going out on Black Friday.

sweet.

Comfy..

Ok, ok, I've had this for awhile.
And it's probably about time that I use it.

But--it's a grey, rainy and going-to-get-colder-day. And I'm comfy on the couch with coffee and Speak the Loverboy Kitty.
Oh sure, there's stuff around the house that needs to get done. Cat boxes to be cleaned, kitchen floor in serious need of a mop, a bathroom that needs scrubbin'.

meh.
maybe tomorrow.
